For your protection, the answer to each question is replaced with “Transferred from the IRS.” The IRS DRT allows you to securely transfer original IRS tax return information, but not Form 1040X amended tax return information.

While not required, if you are eligible to use the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (IRS DRT), we highly recommend using the tool for several reasons: It’s the easiest way to provide your tax return information. It’s the best way of ensuring that your FAFSA has accurate tax return information.
When to file an amended or corrected tax return?
When filing an amended or corrected return: Include copies of any forms and/or schedules that you’re changing or didn’t include with your original return. To avoid delays, file Form 1040X only after you’ve filed your original return. Allow the IRS up to 16 weeks to process the amended return.
Is there a way to amend a 1040 tax return?
You can now submit Form 1040-X, Amended U.S Individual Income Tax Return electronically using available tax software products. Only tax year 2019 Forms 1040 and 1040-SR returns can be amended electronically. Please see IR-2020-107 and IR -2020-182 for additional information.

IRS telephone assistors don’t have any additional information about your amended return while it is processing. Call our toll-free number only when the tool asks you to contact us.
What do you need to know about electronically filed amended returns?
For electronically filed Amended Returns: If an amount in a field on the Form 1040 or 1040-SR is blank, then the corresponding field on the Form 1040-X must also be left blank. If there is a zero in a field on the Form 1040 or 1040-SR, then the corresponding field on the Form 1040-X must also contain a zero.
